I couldnt find any skids that were affordable so I made my own. Doesnt look too bad, and works well too. The previous owner took them off, but left the brackets welded to the chassis, so it was either continue to bang shins on brackets or make a plan, well here was my plan.

Looks good. Looks a little to far out for my taste. But I doubt you will get much body damage. It will be a good pivot point.

i heard from jcr today, my sliders are in the mail.
on a side note, 16 days and a wake-up and i am a gone mother f****er HELL YA !!!!! |
Sweet MISFIT!!! Don't get too much sand in your ears these last couple of weeks.

Put new U-joints in the rear DS of the boys' Jeep. I also have had a clunking noise going on in the rear of my Jeep. Pulled the rear Diff. cover off and had a look. I thought I would need to move or add some shims to tighten it up. ALL of the play is in the rear locker. I can move my rear tires almost 1/8 of a turn without the ring and pinion moving. I sent Aussie Locker an e-mail to find out WTF!!! I will just continue to monitor until I hear from them.

Talked with a Technical Representative from Aussie Locker, today. The play I have in my rear axle evidently is normal operation for the Aussie Locker. The Aussie Locker requires a 5 degrees turn to unlock in both directions. Multiply that times 4.56 gears and you have a 23 degree turn at the ring gear. Add to that R&P backlash, wear in the axle splines, wear in the U-joints and 33 inch tires comes out to almost 30 degrees turn of the rear tires. So, long story short, my Aussie Locker is operating perfectly normal. Other than a little bit of a clunk when going from D to R, it operates perfectly both on and off road. So, I'll just go to walker valley tomorrow and drive my XJ where my Aussies perform best.
|
Not saying this is your clunk, but one day one of the bolts for my tranny mount was just sitting on the crossmember.
|
Well, I will definitely take a look at that possibility. I rung it out pretty good on the Walker Valley trails, today. No carnage to speak of. I think it is fine.

pulled my fuel filter, no problems there. can't figure out why it will start and run but then die and will start but die as soon as it starts..
