Default went to elbe yesterday trip report...

I went out for the a day run in my Cherokee finally got a tow rig so now I can take it out..We had 3 rigs it was a long and really fun day.Bent my trac bar I could only turn one way that was right but that did not stop me.Then bent a rim.Put the spare on then broke rear drive line took it off and keep on going(I had the parts to fix it but was lazy so wheeled with out it)and at the end of the day broke my driver side inner and outer chromoly axle shaft. Now I need to make a trip to randys ring & pinion for a warranty replacement.I was the only one that broke..Here are a few pics of the day...

I wasn't on a trail thats the bad part.I was in the parking lot getting ready to load it on the trailer and tried to spin the front tires (no rear drive line) for fun and broke the shaft that goes threw the unit bearing and keep going to put on the trailer then really broke the inner and the outer. It should be warranted so big deal. And the trac bar I should have guested the bends It did last longer then I thought it would.

I kinda figured that the front chromos probably got broke after your rear driveshaft let go...and you were getting around off front drive only. Looks to me like the axle shaft broke right at the knuckle U-joint cup. Do you think spot welding the U-joint caps may have weakened them? Tim could fix that trac bar up real nice for ya. he has experience. Looks like yours bent in the same place his broke that day when we were doing the Busy...LOL.

The shaft broke at the unit bearing and then it binded up and broke the ears off there was a lot of sparks and really bad noises but I wanted it on the trailer.I did not weld the caps on these. only the stock shafts I weld the caps on.I have $270 super joints. Now I need new caps they sell a repair kit that they are giving me a discount on that will cost me $48.41 for (4) u joint caps. And the trac bar I'm going to bend back and put a couple of gusset on it.It will be better then new.
