The first synthetic rope I bought was a cheapy I bought it off of amazon.com. I forget what the brand name was but basically the cheapest I could find and I got what I paid for. It snapped on me a couple of weeks ago while I was winching myself over a boulder I was high centered on. The new synthetic rope I just bought is called Pro Mark. This stuff is amazing!!! There was a guy in a 93 ZJ Grand Cherokee hung up on that same boulder this weekend. I attached my Jeep to a tree from behind and pulled that ZJ up over the rock. Unfortunately the kid in the ZJ was hard on it as I was pulling him and when his crossmember cleared the rock it hit his rear DS and tacoed it. So, I pulled this ZJ up a hill. I had about 80' of my winch line out plus my 30' tow strap. As I was pulling him the rest of the way over the rock my 3"x30" tow strap snapped. So, we tied it to the winch hook and I pulled him all the way up that hill with just front open drive (one wheel turning) on his Jeep. This new synthetic winch rope from Pro Mark I would recommend to anybody. I was skeptical about rope after my first one snapped on me but, if you spend a little cash and get it from a good company the stuff is worth it's weight in gold.

I was newly introduced to this mud pit Saturday, as well. I love it!!! It will keep the stockers out. I had to go up the drop off and out of it. I ended up having to winch out of it only because somebody had put two large tree rounds down in it and they got all caught up under my Jeep and basically high centered me in the goo. I'm looking forward to trying it again. I will take a try at the side trail first.

Yup bryan!! And that mud pit is totally the new gate keeper. Haha! Last weekend we were at the mud pit and came across a ranger stuck as puck so we tried pulling him out and the bonehead hooked the line to his cheap ash winch mount and bent the handle all to heel. Well the guy totally freaked out and was like that's my new mount and it costed 100.00 blablabla!!!!! Well he ended up turning around haha! Good gate keeper

Yes I agree that mud pit is a good Gate Keeper. Anybody who can't get their own rig through that pit should just turn around at that point. It will prevent improperly prepared people from getting hurt, improperly equipped rigs from getting broken and trails from getting destroyed by people trying to get impropely equipped rigs through them.

I took a look at Mike's Jeep out on the trail when I ran into Him and Bryon. As soon as it started Arcing and Sparking everytime I moved that rat's nest of wiring by the battery, I was done messing with it...lol.

I wouldn't worry too much about that mud pit. I didn't see a natural water source of any kind feeding it. Unless PEOPLE periodically go up there and add more water and whatever that concrete looking stuff was in it, it should dry up during the summer just like all of the rest of the mud in Walker. If people/volunteers are maintaining it, then the DNR should know about it and not close the trail because of it. I love it. I hope they leave it just like it is.
