What about a supercharger? If I had the money, I would buy both of us one!

wouldn't be bad, would give more of a v8 feel to the l6 and depending on boost would be very grunty and torky. also wouldn't have to mess with your exhaust much. since the jeeps already serpentine i'd go for it. cnc a bracket and build some charge piping. buy injectors and take your rig to a tuner wiht a eprom and get it all squred away . use a eaton m90 or some thign in that super charger family range would be pretty ideal.

I was looking at my haynes Manual last night. After looking at your shift linkage I know there is supposed to be a black plastic tube looking piece between the shift lever on your tranny and that bracket just forward of it that your shift cable goes through and has that clamp on it. I believe that plastic tube piece is what you need to fix your shift linkage. The good news is I believe 87-01 so long as the Jeep has the AW-4 4-speed auto tranny, they are all the same. So, you should be able to get that piece off of one of the Jeeps at P-n-P. Does your shop manual have the procedures for adjusting the auto trans linkage. If not, the Haynes Manual does.
