havent had much time to work on it lately due to school and work. the reinforcing plates that the leafs will mount to are just about done. just need to drill a couple more holes then weld them to the unibody. once that is mounted up i can figure out where to mount the leafs.

so i have been slowly making progress and am finally almost over this frame reinforcing nightmare!

both sections of reinforcing plates are just about done.just need a few more welds. thats really all i have been working on. its hard finding time between work and school to do anything.

my goal for this weekend is to have the frame plates done, weld on the leaf spring and shackle hangers, and have the leaf springs all mounted up. and if i have time i might get the leaf perches setup and mounted on the 44.

a few pictures of whats done so far. o and the last one is a random picture of my leaf spring mounts, shackle mounts, and D60 disc brake brackets all from RuffStuffSpecialties. they are a great company! awesome prices and VERY fast shipping!

Have you found out how flammable the old body filler is yet. When I put mine on that stuff would go up with a little spark.

Your rig is going to be sick when these axel swaps are done. I gotta get over to your place to check the jeep out again.

Hey there Super Boy. Let's see a pic of the front end with the leafs in place. I'm dying of curiosity.

There is defintiely a lot less margine for error on the trails we like to run with that wide track, but it does look awesome!!

alright so the front suspension is done. the frame reinforcing plates are welded completely into place and painted. the leaf spring mounts and shackle mounts are welded in place and the leaf springs are hung. it took a little while for me to find the right spot for the front shackle mount to give me a good shackle angle. but after some trial and error i found the right spot.

i slid the front end under the jeep and got the spring perches welded up. it sits about 4 degrees back so its within the 3 to 5 degree tolerance for the steering.

the shocks are another mystery... i played around with a few ideas and settled on one that i think might work, but i may change it. i am going to mount the shock in the stock location on the body and then on the u bolt plate on the leaf springs. the only thing i am worried about with this setup is the shock will be angled a bit towards the front of the jeep.

also guesstimated where the tires would be with the front axle in and took some sneek preview pictures. the front end will be getting the gears and ARB installed this week. warn hubs should hopefully be here this week along with some spicer u joints for the front. gonna shoot a coat of paint on the front end and put my tires on the new beadlocks and get the front installed for the final time.
