well i wont have the 35s for this trip. f#$king discount tire decided not to tell me that they wouldnt have the tires in until next week. i had my appointment today to get them mounted but they only had one in. the only good thing is that i am the very last person in the country to get a set of these because of the stop on production

Why did they quit making them? Just read the new Ultimate Adventure article in the Peterson's last night. Goodyear sponsored it and everybody was running the GY MTRs. Oh well running your 33s just means I won't be having to help you swap out a busted axle shaft or knuckle U-joint because of those huge a$$ tires...LOL. Besides we'll be going up there again in a few months once the snow flies for Evans Snow Run Take II. I'll have bigger and better tires and you will have bigger and better tires. We should be able to bury rigs really good set up like that. I'm hearing gorgeous weather this weekend. Should make for an awesome group shot up there where we did it last time. Should be able to get Mt. Ranier in the background. I was Bobby wasn't gone on deployment.
lol those chromoly shafts and spicers should hold up in the front and the 29 spline 8.25 will hold up long enough for me to get alloys lol yes the snow run take 2 will be waaayy better! maybe we wont have so much trouble this time and be able to get through more than one trail lol ya i forgot bobby was on deployment. damn him... we are going to have a decent showing so our group picture will be pretty good
i was just wondering what trails you guys go up, from 1 to 10 what is the most difficult trail would we hit? The reason im asking is because i recently got this jeep and i have yet to put armor on... i dont even have rock sliders yet lol and i like to be able to open all 4 of my doors

96crawler,
Brandon (98CherokeeSport) would be the better guy to ask about this but, so long as you are careful and take your time. All of the trails are plety wide enough to not bash the sides of your Jeep in. The only problems I had up there last time was DEEP snow and $hitty tires. This time there is no snow and I have MUCH better tires so, I am planning on going and conquering.

I've just been to Evan's Creek the one time in the snow. That was the first time meeting up with Brandon and his bunch from Bonney Lake. They are a great bunch of guys. You will have a good time wheeling with them.
I have 33x12.50x15 Maxxis Bighorns on my XJ, now. I had 32x11.50x15 Pro Comp Muds with about 10% tread left when I went on the Evans snow run. My tire situation is much better now.

96crawler, I just took a look at the pics of your XJ on your profile. That is a sweet lokin XJ, Bro!
Brandon, so how are we looking for numbers? I just amswered a thread where a guy from McChord AFB was looking for a map to Evans Creek. I told him to google directions to the Bonney Lake Freddies and meet up with us there before 0900. Hopefully he will show up. I'm figuring with me and crawler and your bunch we should have 6-7 XJs again.
I got the plates and chips all loaded up in my Jeep ready for the trip down there in the morning. I'll be rolling into the Freddie's parking lot between 0830-0900.

I think 96crawler said he was bringing another guy with him. I tried to get my son to call in sick to work but, he needs the cash. He just interviewed today for a new job which if he gets it will land him with getting all weekends off from now on. So, he is all about making the next snow run.

We had a great day of wheeling up at Evans Creek, again. Brandon lead us through some of the most challenging trails I've been on, again. So, I can now honestly say with or without snow Evans Creek is a straight up awesome place to go wheeling. This place has everything...mud, deep water, slick rock, trees, stumps, roots, hill climbs and even a really cool rock garden with Medicine Ball sized rocks in it that are a blast to crawl around but, that will bite you in the a$$ if your heavy right foot gets the best of you. We started off with a group picture at the usual spot. Yeah, XJs still out numbered the TJs but, only because our new friend Tim joined us at the trail head. It was actually a pretty **** poor showing for the CF guys. Brandon and I were it. This other picture shows the only breakage of the day which was mine and only because of getting a little too throttle happy in the rocks. With much help from Brandon in the form of a tug off the rocks, another quick tug up a small up hill section when I was finishing out the trail we were on in front wheel drive only. Then, Brandon and Nick helped me out with a fluid top off for my TC so I could make the 15 mile drive to Brandon's place in front wheel drive only. Oh, and thanks to Tyler too for the use of his First Aid kit when I tried to cut my thumb off while making a funnel out of a soda bottle. Then, came the most awesome help of all. Brandon gave me his old pre-SYE rear driveshaft, all the tranny fluid I needed and air to air up my tires...plus tools and a driveway to fix my Jeep so I could drive the 150 miles back to my home. I can't thank him enough. We actually brought a guy along that took a bunch more pics. I have a bad case of CRS so I don't remember his name but, there will be many more pics of this run posted by Brandon when he gets them. I'm telling all of you guys now if you miss the next Evans Creek run, you are really doing yourself and your 4wheeling hobby a HUGE dis-service.

like brian said it was a great trip! we had five rigs the whole day and had a blast. we started at the 311 and ran both sections without trouble. it took a little while to get through section A because we had to wait on a group that was in front of us. after the 311 we ran the 196 and 197. managed to get my cherokee through 197 with no damage whatsoever. then we can the 520 where i cracked a tail light and headed to the rock slide where the brian busted his rear driveline in half getting a little throttle happy in the rocks lol
we had lunch there while we figured out a way to get him out. we finished off the 520 and headed out for the day. luckily i had a driveline that happened to fit brians rig sitting at my house. so we ran to my place and patched him up for his long drive home. all in all it was a good trip! i will post up some more pictures when i have time to upload them

So, just because I know somebody will ask sooner or later. A 97+ rear drive shaft from an XJ with the shorter OEM rear TC output WILL fit a pre 97 XJ so long as it has a 6 inch lift.
