Default Engine Block Heater Installation

Moving to Anchorage in about 7 months. Had a buddy tell me his uncle strongly advised installing block heaters on my two vics. Who can tell me the best way to go about this? Questions I have are should I just do this myself? should I do it before I move up there? What brand and/or style should I consider? Thanks for the help.

As far as when to do it? I myself would rather work on it on a nice warm dry day then in the middle of Winter all wet and frozen :-)

Thanks a lot. Looks a lot simpler than I originally thought

Haven't done it myself but it should be straight forward. Hardest part would be getting the old freeze plug out.
