well it was a fun day down in Elbe. It was mud slingin, rock crawlin jeep tippin good ol time. There were 5 of us total. 3 XJs and 2 xterras. We all met up at the camp grounds around 1030am an aird down, disconected locked and prepaired for what lied ahead. There was another group headed out that day that looked a lil more equiped that we were so we let them go first. we started with the sunrise trail and had a few opsticalls to clear there were a couple of new holes that were there and me an another XJ tried a few of them. not too bad kinda close but made it through. we finished the trail with no probs. we then headed through the mainline trail through the deeep deeep puddle and out the other side with no probs. we then started the harder stuff on alder loop. there were a few tricky spots for the smaller rigs but made it through alright, even got a few of them to try some of the hard stuff squeezing between trees and climbing over massive roots. got to the end and across the road to the mainline ext!!! this is where we had trouble. started out ok there was a couple spots that needed some guiding on but got through ok. we continued down the trail and had a couple snags....then around the corner all the trees were blown over and limbs debris scattered the trail. we pressed on slowly figuring out the trail. we found a tree that had gotten ripped out of the ground and in the way of the trail. luckly i was leading and just finished my new bumper the day before. i got to test it out and push the fallen tree out of the way. all made it by an not a few rig lengths down the trail there was a larger tree down in the middle of the trail.... i got out to take a look and found 4-5 more laying behind it.....i thought great i didnt bring my saw and no on else did ether. we had a few hatchets, axes, maybe a bow saw. but that would take us hours to chop through. the big previous group had already made a bypass around off the trail that we walked and checked out and determined a path that would get us around safely. as we all headed back for our rigs to attempt the bypass one of the xterra guys stayed behind to guide us through. i went first and the first opstical was a three point turn that the guy found and "easier" way around that wouldnt have to make us do the k turn. boy he was wroing. i went down in to a big hole in between two trees an came back out and up an incline at a angle which made me really uncofertable. the guy was like keep coming keep coming. i was like dude im guan tip over. i inched my way forward and found a comfertable spot against a tree. i got out and checked out what was going on. it seemed ok from there. but what next was really tricky i had to climb an incline at a angle while crawling over a 2 foot tree that was down and being open/opem it was im possible. i gave it a few valiant attemps and could not pass it. so i got some help i had the next person in the convoy come down and try to tug me out of the mess that i was in. put him up on the high side, ran a strap and tugged an tugged but nether of us could get traction. it started to dump snow on us. the landscape almost changed in a blink of an eye. things started to get really cold and we wanted to get moving off the trail. so i let everyone go by and let the last guy with the only winch to winch me out. so i did a quick repossition and he hooked me up on the front and he pulled me sideways while i crawled back on the trail then pulled be from the rear to realine me to head in the right direction finally back on the path we finished the last few yards to a intersection that lead us back to the main road and decided to skip out on the rest of the trail and head out to gotcha and get a group picture in front of Mt. Rainier. we chugged through and found a few jeeps stopped and repairing there rig. apprently they broke an axle. we offered help but they said they got all the tools an hands they need. so we pressed on. stopped got a group pic in front of a cloudy Mt. Rainier, bs, and ate lunch. we noticed that it was starting to get dark so i decided to pick up the pace to hopfully finish the trail and hit the bowl. so ran the rest of it and blasted to the end at the bowl played around in the water and climbed some rocks. it started to snow again and we decided to call it quites. so headed home...but on the way home i was leading my buddy and his freind home and i rounded a corner and then my lights went out completly. i turned them off and on, wiggle the switch. i flipped on my over heads and found a safe spot to pull over. i checked all the fuses connections and lastly the reastat switch. pulled it out and i was melted. bad ground. so i replaced the ground wire, few new ends and found a spare switch in the back. through it in an left the dash and wires danglin and go on our way. i knew that spare wasnt the greatest ether cuz the dash lights were really dim even turned all the way up. so i had a buddy lead and got to the nearest autozone and a new switch later it worked. got home and finished the repairs.......so thats what happen. almost a life story there. so there will be pics up later and a few videos later so check back in.
