Default Elbe may 11-13 2012

Me and five other cherokees incuding 94nit headed out from yakima about 9:45 am friday morning headed for elbe. We arrived about 11:30 to the camp and found a few other cherokees there ahead of us. We set up Camp and headed to the trails. We ran the Sunrise trail first which is a pretty easy trail. Then we got to the mainline trail which is also pretty easy. We proceeded into mainline and I decided I wanted to try a hole that Erick's dad's bronco got hydrolocked in the week before. So i lined p and went for it. Same result for oleblue, it was looking promising for the first 10 seconds or so then I dropped into a 5 foot hole that swallowed my 6.5" lifted jeep on 35s. I had about 18 inches of water in the cab before i knew it. Will winched me out backwards and we got out to check the damage. 4 out of 6 cylinders were full of water. Buck, alex and i removed all the spark plugs and cranked it till it was dry enough to start. We put all the plugs back in and it took a bit but she started back up. After watching the water come out of the exhaust like a fire hose for a few seconds I drove it onto flat ground and we changed the oil in it. The jeep wouldnt stay running without pressing the gas so i limped it through the rest of the trail and took it to camp. Changed the oil again, dried the distributor and jb welded a dime to the throttle linkage to keep it idling and she was alive!!

We didnt go back out that night, i wanted to let my jeep dry out so we ate some food, drank some beer, and went to sleep.

Saturday morning we all got up early expecting to hit the trails early but we didnt get going until about 10. We went and hit alder loop, where i broke a mirror in the beginning, lol. Hit the rainier vista and a few other trails that were all pretty simple. We were kind of surprised at the ease of all the trails we had been on. At some point I bent my drag link so bad i could barely turn right so again, we headed back to camp. Rossie is the man! He took the drag link off and we bent it back, then he welded a peice of square tube to reinforce it and we bolted it back on.

We headed for the busy wild about 3:30 pm saturday. As soon as we got into the trail we knew it looked pretty promising! We could tell this trail was going to be everything we heard it would be. we hit the first obstacle and every jeep had to winch up it. There was a couple toyotas that thought they wanted to pass us and broke a motor mount on the first hill so they were done for awhile. After rossi almost flipped his jeep on this obstacle we got the rest of us through it and proceeded on. We got to a real tight corner where body damage was sure to be had. The wrangler in the group ended up getting hung up pretty good on his slider there for awhile. after he was freed we got to the next mudpit/hill climb/90degree turn. Every jeep in the group had to winch up it, except for one. Me =D We got through there pretty fast and headed down the rest of the gnarly trail. people were getting stuck/winched/dented everywhere throughout the next sections of the trail. Bilo broke a shock bolt of which pulled his fuel line off his fuel filter. They thought it was a fuel pump at first but found the problem. Brandon broke his front driveline a little ways back on the trail. Buck ran a front driveline up to us from camp and alex walked all the way down to him to deliver it. Found out the yoke was unrepairable so he ended up having to winch and be dragged through the rest of the trail which ended in a lot of carnage for his jeep and hours of stressfullness for him.

The bulk of the group headed back to camp about 11:15 pm and brandon didnt get back until close to 2. All in all the trail was just what we expected and was a ver fun time. Best trail i have been on yet!

Sunday morning we woke up, packed up and said goodbye to all the new friends we met! All great and helpful people and we all look forward to wheeling with all of you again!

We, the jeep unit crew, headed out to morton and fueled up. We adjusted my toe in a little because my jeep felt like it was pushing the front tires the whole way. We also found the my front tires were angled in vertically on both sides. There is no adjustment for that so I am thinking i may have a bent axle housing. Not sure yet. We headed from morton towards yakima and when we got to the white pass climb that where i realised the toll hydrolocking takes on an engine. My jeep ran about 25 mph all the way up the hill and felt gutless the whole time. Once we got to the top it was smooth sailing from there. We all split off and went our seperate ways to the houses and all agreed that was one hell of a trip.

We will be wheeling again with you fellas, it was a great time and thanks to everyone for putting up with me and my jeep! Special thanks to everyone who helped me fix my jeep after i broke it several times!!

pics and videos to come soon after i get them all uploaded.
