Thumbs down Damn four wheel drive wont engage!

hey,
my damn four wheel drive isn't engaging. I've followed all vacuum lines and cant find leaks or anything of that sort. could it be my transfer case switch? or should i just invest in the 200 dollar manual engager?

If yours is an 86 like your profile says i would look at the motor that engages it on the passenger side of your front axle they have a tendency to go its a ring that slides over and locks the axles in you can open it and slide the ring manually and leave locked all the time. Check this out this should helphttp://jeep.zerok.ru/index.php?page=142

pull the weak *** two piece shafts and get a set from a TJ along with a block off plate and call it a day. the VAC system is pointless and worthless with the NP231 or 242 cases.

the vac lines were messed up from the guy owning it prior to me i too of the engagement motor that slides the gear over into 4x4 it worked and all until i went into the woods and then it just didnt work. said it was in 4 but wasnt. im gonna invest in manual locker. But now it wont start i turned it off in the woods and now it will turn over and rev up to 3000 rpms but then choke and die???? about to push it off a cliff.
