I was thinking of hitting up Evans or Elbe this Saturday, but most of my regular wheeling buddies are going to the Supercross. Anyone out there want to do some wheeling with me on Saturday?

19 views and no replies. Must be a bunch of web wheelers or non locals out there. Maybe I should have put "Anyone want to wheel Elbe or Evans this Saturday?" in the title.

Last I was up there the snow was pretty deep. There is likely some new snow up there, maybe not at the entrance, but definitely up towards the top of the 311. I know we will not be able to run any of the higher elevation trails, but we should be able to run the 311 and 102 (maybe not all the way though). We might be able to get to the 520, but I heard there was a lot of snow leading to the entrance of the actual trail. People have been up there trying to run trails since I was last there so it may be better that I expect.

Bill, I'd love to come down that way and run Evans with you but, I'm still working the bugs out of my XJ. I went up to Walker this last weekend but, only made it a couple hundred yards into the first trail and ended up having to tow a dead XJ back down to the pit. Now, I have a squeaking U-joint somewhere in the front end. Most likely the forward one on the front DS. I changed out all others when I replaced my front gears. Hurt the front diff on the last Elbe run and then grenaded it on the road the next time I put it in 4WD on a snow day here on the island.

Kevin - What's up with all the Sunday wheeling? I prefer to go Saturdays so that when I break my junk I have an whole day to figure out how to fix it or limp it home. If you ever have time to wheel on a Saturday just let me know.
Buck - With the amount of snow at Evans now you will definitely want to work any bugs out before coming down here. Too bad about your walker trip getting cut short, the XJ you towed was out there all alone!? I can't count the amount of times I have helped someone who was out alone and in over their head at a wheeling spot. Sometimes I think there should be warning signage at the entrances (trail reccomendations, a warning to not wheel alone). Hopefully a U-joint is your only problem. I get mine from Schuck's and they a lifetime warranty so everytime one fails (which is often the way I wheel) I just trade it in for a new one at no cost.

So the squeak in my front end ended up being the ball in the center of the double cardan joint in my front DS
