Anyone in WA wants a good begginer Area...
Its the Mnt. SI area north of North Bend, take North Fork RD out of north bend, follow it all the way, theres 2 dead ends take the one that says 24 miles, follow that thru the private Hankook Forest land and all the annoying locked gates, then you reach national forest land, lots of good tight trails, most are capable for begginer drivers and stock XJS, note there are sharp rocks in areas so make sure you have tough tires and a way to change them. most trails are tight lots of brush contact. and unless your pro, avoid the mud pit... youll know it when you see it, you will get stuck if impropperly equipped. great camping spots of USFS road 57. Happy Trails!

youll see the gates on the left and right of the main gravel road, theres no sign to tell you youve entered the National Forest Land anymore, so when you see a trial or campsite that does not have an annoying locked yellow gate youll know your in the nat. forest land. sorry for being unclear

I'm guessing Mnt. means Mountain. So, we have Mountain SI area north of North Bend. So, what does the "SI" mean in Mnt. SI. Please assume when you are telling people about a cool new place to go wheeling, that they are either not from the local area or, like me, they've never heard of the place before. So nicknames or abbreviations the locals call the place won't fly when a guy is trying to get information on the place or figure out exactly where it's at. Thank you for clearing up that little "After going by all the annoying locked gates" thing. We don't want ANYBODY out there to think we promote breaking through or going around locked gates.

Take ballarad rd out of north bend, that road turns into north fork road then you take the left "23/24 mile dead end" up the hill, youll see where pavement turns to gravel, NOTE: do not stop here to prep ur vehicle if you need to... there is a house with giant german shephards running loose that will eat your face off. Youll notice your now in Hankook (logging company) Forest Management land, ita all private property (youll know this bc there are yellow signs saying so plastered on the trees, and all trails/roads off of the mail trail are locked by yellow gates... Just so you know THERE ARE NO possible way around these, no matter what your driving. But anyway... so you keep going and goin and going and eventually (15ish minutes) and youll reach a spot there is a BLANK, painted brown wooden sign, in the brush on the right that marks the start of the public national forest land. also there is one of the hankook signs turned around where with sharpie they wrote approximate end of Hankook land, thanks for visiting.. youll see a campsite a few feet on the left along the north fork of the Snoqualmie river. once your here, your free to do as you wish. check burn bans prior to coming as that sign was ironicly.. burned... gravel road has little to no washboard anywhere but there are many large potholes, reccomend as always bring atleast a bow saw to cut things in your path. Roadway is mostly gravel, some areas have larger sharp rocks that just want to pop your tire, so be prepared. No cell service and even GPS is hard to reach in some areas, max elevation is around 3000 feet at the end of the main trail (never turn off). there is only one road out, thats the road you come in on. full of great fishing and campsites and for those that want to get your jeep a lil muddy, there was only 2 turn off trails i would not feel comfterble going up with an all stock XJ. theres one trail that will require at least a 6" lift to go into if you choose to, skid plates not needed but reccomended bc of rocks. Watch your speed, there are sudden drop offs that will kill you and lots of deer, You can see evidence of a car dropping off as you approach the large concrete bridge theres a large rock with a orange arrow painted on it... you cant miss it, that arrow points off the drop to a OLD OLD vehicle of somekind stuck in the ravine. bring some basic rappeling gear to hook up to your jeeps rear hitch reciever to climb down the loose rocks if your the adventurous type.! any other questions, and yes.. mnt. SI is mountain SI...
