Sounds good. If u find that u don't wanna continue after the first trail. Feel free to catch a ride with any of us. But with a winch, a good idea of how to wheel right, and a good spotter you could get a rental care thro walker almost clean of dents.

This is the weld on bracket I found that should work with 3/4ton Chevy calipers and xj rotors! We will see. It saves the work of pulling the ford or eldorado whole disc brake system and re-drilling the axle retainer plate to fit those backing plates. 3/4 ton disc brakes are big I hope they will clear my wheels??? If not maybe I can get those weld on brackets made to accept xj front brakes ya know!! The junk yards been wet lately and I was not up to dickn around in the crap.....haha!

Oh and 3/4 ton calipers new are only 15$ with a core....and junkyard rotors are 10$ so that's 50$ plus the weld on brackets 40$......so a total of 90$ just round up to 120$ for other b.s. and you have a rear xj Dana 44 disc brake conversion for 120$. Bammmm suckas!!!! F that 500$+ crap you see on the "bolt on *****es" Offroad so n so ..that's straight outta the bush beater's Offroad.

Don't grand Cherokee rear disk breaks work on a Dana 44 like they do on a 8.25....? That's what I did I took mine from a 99 gc. Used brackets, got new disks, calipers.

Do the GC calipers have a e-brake?

Yeah the grands have the e brake......and the grands will work for 8.25 ya just have to widen the hole on the caliper mount a hair but the retainer plate bolt patter is different.

A spacer will also have to be used because the depth is a little different. With the bracket I got I won't have to change my axle bearing out or cut the retainer plate ya know! I'll explain it better later I'm at work now

Ya it's internal, a mini drum break within the disk.

The pattern is the same but your right u do have to make the center hole in the bracket a hair larger.

Mine was a direct bolt on other then making the center hole slightly larger no spacer needed....

Well yeah the grand to 8.25 is direct beside reaming out the hole.... but the grand to dana 44 is not! For a Dana 44 rear xj it's good to use the explorer rear disc set up with little modification to the older xj Dana 44 but the newer rubi 44 is even a little more than that.

I'm hoping the weld on bracket I got for my 44 disc conversion works out!! With the larger 3/4 ton calipers and the right rotor I should have more stopping power also. Like busted said earlier crawling with 4:88's and 35's in 4lo is harder on the brakes.
