i did this on my 97 xj was tired of waiting for fan to come on but didnt want to just hook the fan up to toggle switch so i had a 6 post on/on toggle switch and the fan will work normal when not switched on

tools needed are

1-wire stripers
2-wire crimpers
3-2 blue butt conecters
4-4 female connectors
5-1 oring connector
6-1/2 inch wrench
7-test light or multimeter
8-10' of 14ga wire any color
9-1 6 post on/on switch napa's part #ECH TG6064
10- flat head screw driver

first thing is to un hook the batt. and locate your aux fan relay

now you want to remove this cover

next undo this nut and remove the wires under it

next take a flat head screw driver and pry on these clips to pull out the fuse block

now once its removed do the same with these clips but becarefull they will break

once you have the bottom off locate the ground ativating wire for the relay mine was blue with pink tracer

now cut and butt connect a new wire to each side

now put everything back together but leave batt unhooked now run wires along fire wall

and locate a spot to run wires in this is the best i could find

now once run inside you wanna take your switch

and wire just like this

once you have done so locate a spot where you want it and with the switch in the lower position the fan will work like normal and when you flip the switch up it will turn on with no back feed into the rigs electrical now hook batt back up if you have any questions just send me a pm and ill be glad to answer them

 

also your check engine light might come on mine did not at first. because my ac did not work. but since i have fixed the ac now the check engine light comes on. also this mod only works with the key on. due to i the batt will go dead leaving the fan running with engine off. and it really wont cool much since the antifreese is not circulating. also i know that i have been asked its not the blue and white wire in the picture its the blue with pink wire you want to splice into. the pic is just for refrence of how to hook the wire's up
