yokohama geolandar a/t-s?
Anyone running these tires on their XJ? Thinking of getting a set here soon, but not sure what to expect from these things. Right now I'm debating between the 30x9.5 or 31x10.5 using stock rims with a RE 3.5 superflex lift I'm planning on installing this weekend.

They came on my wifes 07 mitsubishi outlander i had to replace them at 25k. they did run nice for her and were a smooth ride but i think cause they are a soft compound they wore out too fast. if you are looking for a DD driver tire that gives a nice ride there ya go BUT plan on them lasting maybe 30K tops and thats letting them turn in to blongna skins.

I had a set of those on an 05 Dakota 4x4. No off roading but 300+ miles a week for 15 months and you couldn't see any wear on them. Bought them from Discount Tire and they came with a 50K mile warranty. If I remember they have a tread wear rating of 460 which would make them on the hard side. I lost 1.5 mpg going from Goodyear Wrangler RT/S to them. Both types were 265/70/16's. Had great traction in both hard and soft snow and fantastic traction on water laden Western Washington roads.
Just my experience.

My buddy had a set and they lasted him about 40K. Good traction on and off road.
I'd go with the 31x10.5's personally, but they'll rub slightly on your LCA's at full lock with stock rims unless you get some spacers.
30x9.50's won't rub, but they'll look small with your lift.
Mine's got 3" so these should give you an idea of what they'll look like size wise:
with 30x9.50's on GC canyons.
with 31x10.5's with 1.25" spacers
looks a lot better with the bigger tires and wider stance IMO

I bought the 30x9.5x15 set and put them on my 15 inch wheels and a 3 inch lift. There is no rubbing, but there are times where the 30 just looks a little small for the lift. I use my XJ as my DD which is why I went with these tires, and they have been excellent on the road, rain, snow, and ice. However, they do harden up when the temps drop down into the single digits and make grabbing a little hard. I take mine off road on weekends, and the tires have done great 80% of the time. They just don't handle mud or clay very well, but that's because they are AT/S so that is expected. Right now I have about 20K on them after about 9 months.
My next set will be BFG A/T KOs at 31 inch, but the Yokohamas have served me pretty decent, so I can't complain too bad. If your XJ is a DD and a weekend off roader then the Yokohamas are fine.

After my post above I went out and checked my tire tread on the four on the ground vs the unused spare (I bought a set of 5). After 20,000 miles I have 70% tread left on the Yokohamas. I figure I can get by with 30K to 40K more before I really have to get new ones. So, driving highway to work every day and off roading on weekends and trips, I guess the tire life will be about 50k to 70K miles by the time I'm done with them. I also rotate every 7,000 miles. Hope this helps anyone interested in these tires.
