Default Yet another power window problem!

I've searched a few times but most people have had their problem solved using the window lock bypass trick, but that didn't help in my case. So here's the deal: 97 xj sport, the window rolled down but not up so I ordered a new regulator and installed it today, but now it won't do either. Tried the window lock bypass trick, which didn't fix the problem. Pulled the boot in both front doors back to inspect the wires and all seemed fine. So what do I check now? I know the basics on using a multi-meter to check out electrical problems, but I'm not sure exactly what to check. Hopefully someone has fixed this problem before.
Here's the summary:
-Regulator/motor is good
-wires appear to be good

What now?

Did you verify that you have power and ground going to the window motor while operating the switch? I would start there and work your way back through the switch and door wiring. Wouldn't also hurt to check fuses quick. Also, did you get the boot in the door jamb all out of the way far enough to sell all of the wiring? Hope this helps...

Thanks for the response. As I said I'm not too familiar with electrical issues, where would I check for power and ground?
I did find that the purple/pink wire going from the drivers side switches was torn almost all the way through, so I replaced that section and I'm about to go check it out, just had to get out of the sun for a minute! Hopefully that fixed it!

Holy crap, that did it! Either that wire was the problem or the good Lord decided the neighbors have heard enough curse words today, but I am happy to say my wife will be able to roll her window down after work today!
So to all with the classic Jeep window problem, check that darn purple/pink wire!

And in related news, I now have a perfectly fine window motor/regulator for sale!
