I am really confused on why the iac reacts differently (or not at all) depending on where the air's entry point is on the intake

I read someplace that the MAP vacuum was metered, through the size of the lines, like mine has broke a couple times but still has 90% of the plastic line.
I would think it has to do with MAP signal, also remember vacuum is not constant, it surges with the opening and closing of the valves.
So that actually make since a small tiny map line would minimize that flux of the vacuum signal.

one last thing the IAC head can be twisted in and out to extend or retract it.
Actually pulled mine apart one time.
The RENIX Fuel injection manual says to when testing one make sure you don't overextend it, and should not move more than a 1/4".

Reading up on the MAP sensor it does control idle speed.
Sounds like a good point to go from here.

Time move past there, no doubt he has and mentioned he cleaned all the grounds.
So unless he has a broke wire its not a ground issue.
So time to RTM....
BTW you have the Factory Renix manual on that site?

No, unfortunately I don't have a fsm yet. To this point I have got by with the internet.

i have thought about a ecu having bad readings from a voltage drop but haven't went down that avenue yet.

Sorry cruiser that air bleeder wasnt doin..idle was pretty rough and smelled rich. I went ahead and ran another vac line tapped in right behind the air filter. (1/4 brass barb) seems to be good to go..I have to put my dash back together so I can take it for a spin but so far so good

I'm not going to put the "fixed" tag on it just yet but I like the result so far.I also did some more research on that renix live scanner I mentioned, and it looks to be the ish. I give you LIVE reading from the ecu on sync, map pressure, iat, cts, O2, open closed loop, tps, and I'm sure I'm forgetting some but I am going to pick one up. The guy that make them claims it does everything those big scanners with the cartridges do. He has a couple YouTube videos one them. Just look up R.E.M. Scanner

And before I forget I just wanted to thank you guys for taking the time to help me out!! I have gained so much knowledge and experience working this problem out and I couldn't have done it without u guys. Like I said, I'm not going to put a bow on this quite yet but I am very optimistic.

The hose there front and center is what gave me the positive results. The PO had it plugged off

To be honest I had added motivation of my wife not thinking I'd ever get it back on the road. It's taken me almost a year (bought it last February) but right now is the best by far, that it's ran. Now I can put my fender flares on and get me some mud flaps and be street legal. I'm stoked and I'm going to keep checking to do's off your list cruiser One more thanks!!
