Exclamation XJ/YJ belt issue

Hello friends!

I own both a 96 XJ and a 95 YJ, Both use the same power train so id figure id ask you great people.

My YJ has a belt/pulley issue where it will squeal then stop. the pulley is going bad because i can hear it after the belt gets done.

95 YJ: 2.5L 4 cylinder, 5 speed 4wd

could this be the cause of the power loss i am having? It starts and drives fine after running for a bit, but today i noticed a power drop on my charging gauge while it was squealing then back to "normal" -on the edge of the red zone. all the belts are in good shape but the pulley issue is my main concern. could this pulley be binding the belt and that cause the alternator to not charge? or could this be a different issue all together? and my stick likes to shake a little to much while all this is happening. i really hope its a pulley

Probably the belt is too loose or dry-rotten and is slipping on the alternator pulley. I recommend Gates brand for the belt if you replace it. Get a Krikit-II belt tension gauge, which is around ~$15 at NAPA and set the tension correctly. Typically 140-lbs for a used belt, and 180 if installing a new one new.
