XJ Windshield Cracks

XJ Windshield Cracks
I have noticed more than one XJ, including my '96, that has one or more cracks that travel side to side within the lower third of the windshield glass. Is this a common thing? Is there any way to stop it in the replacement glass?

Its not the glass's fault.
A foreign object is hitting the windshield and putting a small crack in it. Over time, if not corrected, that crack will travel.
Windshield repair places can fill the small crack if the area affected is dollar bill size or less before it spreads too far.
