XJ will not start - "No can BuS" - shorted wire in ignition harness.
The ride is a 2000 Cherokee Sport -
Hey guys, I was doing some work on my jeep and now I am getting the "No can Bus" error code. I was unplugging my harness by the ignition (has the accessory, ignition, 12 volt, and starter wires on the plug) and a part of it grazed a metal bracket - heard a slight pop. Here are the symptoms.
-Jeep cranks but will not start
-voltmeter and fuel gauges are not working
-pw and locks work fine, headlights, hvac fan all seem to work fine.
For starters, I am going to check the fuses. I have checked the following fuses in the front junction box thus far.
Fuse #6 - (5A) Instrument/ switch illumination
Fuse #9 - (10A) Ignitioin switch output / compass / sentry key/ headlamp delay/ instrument cluster
Fuse #10 - (15A) Starting System
Fuse #11 - (20A) PCM / Auto shutdown relay/ fuel pump relay
Fuse #19 - (10A) Engine start motor relay
One of the "hot wires" from the ignition harness definitely came in contact with the metal bracket. I Feel kinda stupid for not disconnecting the battery, but it is what it is and now it needs to be fixed. Any help or advice is much appreciated as I need to get to work tomorrow!

Alright I got the problem fixed - car is running fine, but the check engine light is on. Reset the ecu....ill check to see what codes she throws.
Thanks prcherokee for the service manual.
