XJ shifting extremely late
Hey guys, so yesterday my check engine light popped up and the jeep started runnin a bit rough. where it would normally shift at around 2100 rpm, it started shifting around 2500 rpm. things only managed to get worse. Jeep now will refuse to shift, I have to floor it and get it up to 4500 rpm to get it to shift.
Tranny fluid is good, there are no leaks, i'm stumped. This is my daily driver, I really need help!!!
by the way, it is a 2001 xj with 132000 miles on it.

You probably can't drive the Jeep to a parts store to get the code(s) read so maybe if you checked with the parts stores you could rent one from them and check it out.
It sounds like your TPS has taken a dump though. The TPS provides the TCM with its output signals that are used by the TCM to electronically control the transmission. If the TCM is receiving bad info from the TPS you may be seeing the results.

Thanks, CCKen!
It was the TPS that was fried. Went to a friends house, plugged in his computer and read "throttle position sensor low voltage"
Went to autozone, picked up a new one for $50, replaced it (took 10 minutes), and now the jeep runs like new.
