XJ Rough Start up
My XJ has been having problems starting. It runs fine it just takes at least 10 seconds of the engine cranking to start up when cold. Also it sometimes (but not very often) idles very erratically, it may idle very low and sound like its about to stall or other times it idles really high (usually just a little above 1200) but recently it idled around 2000 rpm and went down to normal after about 5 seconds. Is this anything to be worried about? I'm thinking the idling may just be because of a computer glitch. And the start up could be because of either the fuel pump or possible a weak battery due to my crappy alternator. What do you guys think, this isn't that big of an issue but if it become one I will be screwed.
Edit: I just thought of this right after I posted, could it be the fuel pump? I know XJ's usually have really crappy pumps and they blow out at least once in every XJ's lifetime.

Minersville, not to far from me. Lots of good offroading up that way. I would pull out your idle air control motor, give it, and your throttle body a good cleaning.

Yeah, too bad this stockie can't make it over most of the courses in the area. My experience with mechanics is little to none. I'm not going to bother putting all that work into it, one thing I can do is to ask my uncle (who pretty much does all of the up keep for my XJ). I need to get my spindle rethreaded when I get my brakes changed, when he does that for me I will mention to him about cleaning the throttle body and the idle air control motor. I did ask him about this and he said it's probably the computer but he also said to put some injector cleaner into the fuel tank and that it might help

Oh and I found why my jeep doesn't start well, it's probably my fuel pump. For the longest time I was wondering what the noise coming from my back end was whenever I turned my key. I just recently found out that it was the pump priming the engine. So one time I accidentally turned my key to start my jeep but then turned it back off (my mom was trying to talk to me and I don't know why but I just turned the key off and didn't start it), and then turned it again and it started right up. So I went out with my gf today and thought I would try doing this again. I did it and my Jeep fired right up without a problem...so that's good news but it's also kinda bad news, looks like I will be needing a fuel pump in the future......yaaaay
