Default Xj project 1989


Hi all, I just want find out about the jack that comes with the xj (89) I found it in the back seat I tried it out and it didn't even touch the frame what gives? Yes I searched Google and really didn't find much of any help would be great. Thanks again for your support.

place it under the axle tube to lift the tire off the ground

The bottle jack was meant to be used under the axle during a roadside emergency, thats why it is so small. Same with a scissor jack. If you need to lift your XJ by the frame, use a floorjack under the axle or framerail using the proper lift points, and support the vehicle with jackstands to let the axle, or axles hang freely if need be. Chock the wheels when lifting, and use jackstands once its up. Always. Safety first.

It appears you may have a leaking bottle jack? The floor will eventually rust thru from the oil if not taken care of. Just an observation.
