XJ interior quality

Hello

Could anyone tell me is there a difference between old (before '97) and new (after '97) Jeep Cherokee interior quality? I'm not talking about look. Old is the best

Which has better material, dashboard, skin, plastic, switches? Which squeak less?

Engine: 4.0 with all of the noise and clatter

Post 97's are easier to take apart, but both designs offer a lot of plastic and weirdness.
