XJ dies intermentintly, CPS for sure?
I checked every ground and cleaned them, did the 2 wires on the block by the coil.
Pulled out the aftermarket alarm.
This is the 2nd time it happened and is 3 weeks apart.
First time it died, was doing 70 on the HWY, started back up.
Drove it 300 miles since then.
Today was doing 25mph and just died instantly. started right back up both times.
Does not seem like a fuel issue to me at all.
CPS for sure? I hate changing things and still having a problem. I checked the CPS wire and it is fine.
Is there a way to test the CPS to be 100% sure?
Thanks for any help.
I have read a lot of posts on this and just want to be 100% sure.
Also aftermarket CPS are junk from what I read, true? dealer only?

The CPS usually gets hot and then doesn't work for some time--you may want to break the CPS connector and see what it looks like -spray it well with contact cleaner than use a big wad of dielectric grease in the coupling- also look for frayed anything underneath I have found on my 2000 things that were once wiretied or taped to whatever just floating around looking to get wasted on an exhaust or something.

On my Mom's Jeep years ago I spray painted the connecter and left instructions in the glove box to disconnect it for a minute, then re connect it if there was a problem. That worked sometimes. The connection LOOKED OK, I thought it was something with the computer. Don't know. That was some years after I changed it, the problem cleared up. Maybe it WAS the connection!
