Default XJ died this morning..

On my way to work.. heard a thunk, it ran rough and then died about 2.5 miles from work, out of a 15 mile commute. While waiting for my wife to bring me clothes I could get dirty I contemplated the problem... fuel pump (it makes a heck of a noise and has for past 2 yrs), nope I can still hear it kickin on, but figured I might check at fuel rail anyways, how about CPS.., or how about spark?.... Once I finally got properly clothed I popped the hood... figured I would start with spark first. As I look down and see the ignition coil I remember I have a new one in the back of the Jeep... I will be darned. It couldnt be that easy.. Sure enough fired right up. Ok coincidence? reconnected old one. Crank but no fire.. put new one on.. fires right up. Some might call that being prepared.. I call that LUCK!. Either way I made it to work. Just hope I can make it home. *knocks on wood*

Just thought I would share my good luck with ya'll..

I was glad I drive a stick though... put it in first and used the starter to limp myself off of the main road into a neighborhood.

Man thats about as easy as it gets, for a problem that could have had you pulling your hair out. By the way what did the bad Coil look like? Starter trick is a good idea, I did that with a rig I had, but when I let off of the key it kept going under its own compression.....didn't know that could happen but it went about 10 feet before I stopped it. Course I can put the thing in 2nd gear and walk beside the truck, haha
