I think there is actually some engineering to making a good strong XJ bumper. It has to attach to the unibody just right and in the right places to increase the strength of the unibody frame and to be able to pull without pulling free of the unibody. You're basically building a guard that will keep a pop can from crushing in an impact.

Also.. metal isnt cheap and you have to pay the people that make it and if they crate it for shipping and the company has to make some kind of profit on it and be able to pay bills.. Nothing is free..
