What I should have said was, I read the numbers of off my engine block where the engine ID is and it says 508mx02, what exactly does that mean as far as what I have? Pretty sure its not a 0331 that is prone to head cracking as mine is a 96.

0331 head was introduced in late 1999 calendar year for the 2000 model year. They all have bosses for the distributor-less ignition.
If someone had, for some reason, swapped your '96's head with the worst 4.0L head ever made, you'd have to check the number on the head to find out.

Just noticed signatures do not appear on mobile interface so...
I drive a 96 Cherokee and saw that my engine ID (which is located on the passenger side just before the distributor on the engine block) says "508mx02" directly on the engine ID plate.
What information can I interpret from that engine ID? Thanks for the help I know that this is a crowded area within the forum.

I am going to install an electric line lock for my rear brakes. I need to get some 3/16 to 1/8" NPT compression fittings for the rear brake hardline. Anyone have any tips for when I cut into the hardline so that all the brake fluid doesnt empty out the MC?

Question. My oil dipstick had a broken handle and a washer to stop it from slipping into neck. Ghetto? Yes. Long story short, when I give the throttle a quick twist to wide open, it kicks a tiny bit of smoke out. I have a decent crack in the exhaust manifold. But is that normal?
