WT=229 F !!!
This is my second post, and I apologize for mentioning it again. But, these water temps on my recently purchased 1999 Sport Classic are freeking me out!!
Normally running 204-206-208, I started up a steeper mountain road near Lone Pine, CA in 85-90 degree weather. The temp started climbing. When my ScanGauge reported 229, I paniced, stopped the care, and let it sit for a moment.
When I turned it back on again, it read 231. I started down the hill, and the temp gradually started returning to normal.
WHAT is going on? Can't I even climb a mountain road in this car?
WHAT do I need to do?
Any help much appreciated.
Rick

What cooling system maintenance have u done? We saw 230 once momentarily on the ScanGauge.....triple digit ambient, stopped in bumper-2-bumper traffic, on black asphalt, a/c roaring. The XJ radiator is dinky.....all cooling system components need to be in top notch condition.

Probably need a new rad. Mine was acting weird like that. Hills and highway driving it would creep up to 230 or so. Put a new 3 core rad in from radiatorbarn.com. won't go above 210 unless I'm really hammering it. Which I never do. That's up hill highway hammering before I seen it going over 210. Of course that's my stock gauge. Id like to see how accurate it is.
