Default Wrangler 4.0 same as Cherokee?

I just bought a 2000 Cherokee Sport with a BAD 4.0 engine and someone locally is selling a GOOD 4.0 that is supposedly from a 2000 Wrangler. Are these engines the same? He says his is a distributor engine whereas mine is distributorless coil-over-plug. All I really need is the long-block assembly to be the same so that I can just bolt on my manifolds and accessories,..but I have read where the heads may be different? Anybody know for sure about 2000 Wrangler engines? I don't want to make the 1-hr drive if its a waste of time! Thanks

You can use the Wrangler engine, just swap the cam sensor and make a bracket to support the coil packs. Evrything else is a direct bolt on swap.
