Would you drive?????
I know a similar thread topic popped up recently but i have a different problem.
98 XJ 4.0L
I have a cylinder 1 misfire with low compression. Cylinder 1 has 95 psi with the rest averaging 160. I think i have narrowed it down to a burnt valve or leaking head gasket. I am leaning more towards the head gasket bc i had some white smoke out the exhaust the other day. I have to save up the money to do the job. My temp stays around 210 so thats good. The only reason i am thinking it could be a burnt valve is bc it overheated a while back when i had a faulty e fan.
Any advice is needed
Thanks

thats a touchy one. some will say no dont drive it,you dont want to cause more damage. which I would probably be leaning towards. I wouldnt be driving it if I had to go a little ways away. in town i would drive it.
if its a wheeler heck ya I would be wheeling it. blow the rest of it up and transplant a new 4.0 in. but this is probably you dd, right?

to confirm a burn valve and not the rings you can put a teaspoon of oil in the cylinder redo comp test if it comes up its the rings, if not burnt valve/head gasket. overheating can cause the rings to collapse. I wouldnt drive it far for long if possible I understand its a DD

I will try to do a wet compression test tomorrow. My plan is to do a leak down test atleast.
