Would a dying/incorrect relay cause a fuel pump fuse to blow?
My jeeps 30A fuel pump fuse keeps blowing (I've made several threads on this) and i can't think of anything else to inspect besides relays.
My starter and fuel pump relays are shaped the exact same way and have the same number written on the top of it. Are they supposed to be? I can switch the 2 out and my truck will still turn on and drive but the fuse blows with both of them. Help please

The relay probably is not blowing the fuse. The circuit it's energizing is drawing too much current. Can't see where you posted your year.....Yes, you can swap relays, but it sounds like your relay is working fine. Ether the wire, or the component it's attached to is faulty. One guy posted he somehow mashed his wires back near the pump.
If it's not blowing when you crank it you can rule out the sol. wire, but it could be anything else on that fuse. You might put a meter or test light on that circuit and jiggle things. (Edit; I doubt any solenoid is fused.)
Aging electric motors can start drawing too much current. I once had an E-fan give me some grief. Worked great, but would still blow a big fuse. Starters do it. Don't know myself if a Jeep pump will do that or not.

a relay doesnt draw current. the coil inside the relay does but it is minuscule. Plus that would be from the computer circuit to energize the relay for fuel.
a relay is just a fancy isolation switch, one circuit turns another circuit on so the switching mechanism doesnt have to carry the load current.
I agree with flinstone, about the aging pump drawing too much current.

Sorry. I should have linked you to my other thread. I literally just replaced my pump. It still blows at random times. Usually at low rpm or idling (red lights)
It's very annoying. And it gets so bad that itll blow and the second I put another fuse in and crank THAT one blows too. I've inspected all my wiring and can't find any shorts. I've shaken all my wiring harnesses around while the jeep is running and can't get anything to kill it. It just dies whenever it wants to

There's a fsm for a 96 here http://www.jeep4x4center.com/knowledge-base/index.htm
In the wiring diagram it will show you what all is on which fuse. Don't know if your AC could be on the same fuse, but mine kicks on randomly. You could un-plug the AC clutch at the compressor. Not saying it's likely, but easy enough.
