So I just bought another xj I've had like 10 so I know my way around them and there wiring gremlins pretty well. Well the new one is an 01 4.0 aw4 205k on it. It started fine for the first 2 days I had it kinda drawn out but nothing out of the norm. Well now it just clicks at the solenoid. I have cleaned terminals and connections changed the starter the battery and relays checked fuses and grounds.It sounds like when ur battery dies except rapid clicks. I have my jump pack hooked up now so its getting power but it just clicks. The p.o. changed the ignition 3 times (it was actually the nss) but it all looks fine to me. is my brand new starter a turd right out of the gate? Any body have any ideas

 

Remove and clean your grounds.
