Default wleding on frame???

I was wondering what would be the best way to add my homade longarm brackets to the frame of my jeep. I know that welding to the frame is not recomended especialy since I am only a mediocre welder. My jeep does not use the original tans mount location and I was wondering if I should just mount my brackets to the spot where the trans crossmember used to be or should I use more bolts and drill new holes in the frame.I am not an expert on these frames so I am open to any ideas you guys might have.
