Default WJ seats into a XJ?

I was thinking of finding a Grand cherokee in a local junkyard with some leather seats and taking them and putting them into my XJ... anyone ever done it? Is the process fairly easy?

it is possible i believe a 1999 WJ seats will work all you have to do is bolt them on where the old ones were

they are much wider than xj seats. and i think you have to swap out the mounting brackets.

The 99 WJ seats is a direct bolt in to a 98 XJ using the XJ brackets. The holes are pre-drilled in the 99 seats.

84-93 XJ seats interchange; 94-up are different--or so I'm told.

The mounting area on the floorboard changes; as well as the seat pedestal.

I also am curious about this swap. I currently have a 96 2dr 5spd, and have finally found a newer (99) 5spd that I may pick up. It has tan interior now. My questions are:

What year ranges of Grand Cherokee front seats would fit this Cherokee ('99 4 door), and assuming the back seats won't swap over from a grand cherokee, what color of seats is available both on the Cherokee and Grand Cherokee, so that I could have matching colored seats? Ideally,I know I could find a set of leather from an XJ, but much easier to find from a WJ if there is flexibility of year, etc..

What's involved in swapping, just the brackets?

Thanks,
Kevin
