I bought the putco harness and it works great. No problems at all. I know a couple guys on here that installed then years ago and on many jeeps with no problem. If you install it wrong then yea your going to have problems. I have a 320amp alt on my jeep and my harness is still going strong

Building one is the easy part, but that would be an awful harness, and it's missing the parts listed in my post. Add those and it'll cost more than the Putco harness, but be a lot worse. Either build a good one, or buy something like the Putco. Unless you have a local store with great prices, you can't save money building a harness that's comparable in quality to the Putco.

putco is a decent quality harness. its the relays that suck. I replaced them when I installed them with HELLA relays/relay sockets and havent had issues.

Yes, you can upgrade the harness with stock bulbs. They end up quite a bit brighter. I made my own harness in under 30 minutes.

What would be wrong with it though? Put two h4 pigtails on it if you want. Heck wire loom is 3$ x 20' at advance. I guess I'm just not seeing what your seeing

Let's start with $24.79. That's how much I paid for my Putco harness, including shipping.

Of course I'd put the headlight connectors on it, and there's one male headlight connector that attaches to the factory headlight harness. How much does that cost? Do you think fuses and relays hold themselves? No. How much do those holders cost? There are two different sized ring terminals for the ground and the battery connection. How much does that cost? Then there's heat shrink and wire loom if that's what you want to use to wrap the wiring.

Include the cost of shipping, or if you're picking them up locally, an estimate of miles to all the different stores you'd have to visit will work along with taxes.

Make sure you post the full price for the smallest package including all the spare parts that will be left over after building one harness.

To summarize that, you are proposing $23 for wire, wire loom, fuses and relays. I think those prices are bs, so I'll stop by Autozone in a couple of hours to check out the prices there. Even if those prices are correct, that leaves you with $1.79 to buy the fuse holder, relay holders, ring terminals, two female H4 plugs, one male H4 plug and some heat shrink.

Even with all that, you'll still have a nastier harness with that cheap pvc coated wire and the tape you said you'd use, and you'd have **** poor solder joints because you never mentioned using flux. Soldering 10AWG copper wire is no joke, and a cheap 40W soldering iron will result in cold solder joints in the hands of an inexperienced solderer. I'd recommend using a butane soldering iron and solder pots to tin those thick 10AWG wires.

Actually I use butane soldering torches not to mention I have basically everything except the actual connector on hand. Run the fuses through my aux fuse box...I guess what I'm saying is, if you've been in the jeep game a while you can do it with spare parts basically

I agree, you can make one yourself and it'll probably work. But when you have any issue your hand made harness could mess up more than you think and for $25 why not get a putco and be covered? Just makes sense to me when it's only $25 to get a professional grade harness

I recently did the harness upgrade. I purchased one off amazon. Was ~$15 shipped.

IMO the harness is good quality and fit perfectly.
