Default windshield wind noise?

hey guys, my 98 XJ has an obscene amount of wind noise coming from the windshield area (the roof and A pillar) where it was sealed up. Im almost certain a new windshield was installed before i purchased it. I was just wondering if its a jeep thing or if it was installed incorrectly.

I have a 96 and have the same issue...I just chalk it up to we are driving a brick shaped object down the road at high speeds. I checked the seals around the front windows and they were still tight so I think its just a Jeep thing. I dont recall the thread but I recall reading one once where a guy added sound proofing to his floor and headliner and he said it helped some....no idea what the product was called though.

Does the windshield leak? If so then then it wasn't sealed correctly. The XJ's are noisy vehicles but none of mine had noises coming from the windshield around the pillars.

True! I didn't think about that. It may be rusted where the windshield seals and the sealant isn't filling the gap.
Good catch.

it did leak when i first got it, there was a large spot over the drivers side that looked rusted out and then was painted over. I filled it with sealant, and filled the entire top and upper sides but it made no difference in sound (stopped the leak though) thanks guys!

Sure it's not your door weatherstriping?

IM pretty confident its not the weatherstripping on the doors. It seems pretty good and its not dry rotted or anything. I will be ordering a large roll of sound deadener in the near future for my doors, roof and floor. So I will report back if it helps any. (planning on putting some on the A pillars and the roof as close as I can get to the windshield)
