Default Windshield wiper switch not working.

I have a 98 cherokee sport

Currently my wind-shield wipers aren't turning on, after getting it repaired last year it stopped working again. Last winter when I turned on my car the check engine light turned on and then my wiper blades stopped working. I got my buddy to fix it, I can't remember what was replaced exactly, possibly the switch. Once he fixed it everything was working fine until a few days ago, I was driving and all the sudden the power to my radio kept cutting off and at the same time the wipers stopped working again. I don't know what could be causing the problem. The radio is fine now but the wind-shield wipers aren't working.

The other issue I have is at times especially in the cold weather my control cluster will shut off or acts unresponsive unless I bang on the dashboard, I don't know if that would be adding to the problem or not.

Has anyone else ran into the same issue or know of a solution?

And todays " I will bump your thread because you had no replies so far)!

You have several electrical issues, so some work/checks need to be done first
First off: did you actually check the code from the check engine light?
And when they 'fixed' the problems in the past (which nog recurred), what was it exactly they had found and what did they do?

- start going over ALL the grounds you have, clean them shiny and attach snug
- check fuses and relays
- check your battery (load tested is best)
- inspect for disconnected wires

See how you go for starters. Now you're bck on top, others will have a second chance to chime in.
