Ive noticed that 95 and newer XJ's have a rubber gasket on the windshield vs the older models that use some kind of adhesive to hold the windshield on. The question is, does anyone know if I can use that rubber on my 90 XJ?

Yes, but it requires removing the windshield. When my 92 got a cracked windshield I asked the company replacing it to update it with the newer rubber gasket, they said no problem. Turned out great.

Yes you can, but like already stated you have to remove the w/a to install it. I'm in the glass business myself. It's not really a gasket like older vehicles used. The glass is still glued into the vehicle the same way. This trim just lips over the edge of the glass and is held in place by the w/s adhesive as well. Personally I would stick with what you have as they are a lot more leak proned with the newer trim. I preferred the old clip on metal trim myself.

I had the rubber moulding put on my 89 and I love it. It looks a ton better, and it solved a few rattle issues on the freeway as well. Like all ready stated the windshield has to come out in order to install the rubber moulding. From what the windshield guy told me there is a risk of the windshield breaking when removing it. Luckily mine didn't break, so when it was all said and done the labor was $80, and the moulding was $24. So for around $100 bucks I was able to get mine done. In my opinion it was completely worth it.
