Sounds like the window regulator has gone belly up. These are seen quite regularly on ebay. May be fun to replace.

The worm gear may not have snapped off. Mine will do exactly what he is stating if I run it all the way down. I just have to reach under the inside door pnl and push up a little on the bottom of the window and it will go up. My regulator is just loose or bent a bit.

i lifted my up a lil like you said but it just falls back down.. i falls pretty slow tho.. id say from all the way up takes about 3 mins to fall all the way back down.. but when i push the button i definitely hear the motor running but nothing happens.. i looked up the whole assembly and its like $180 but if i hear the motor running i guess i shouldnt need that.. what is the worm?
