will super glue work on dana 30 disco?

I keep thinking that when i need my 4x4 most the hoses are not going to be on the disco to engage it. So i was wondering if i could put some super glue on the connectors and slide the hose down on it. Do you think it will work?

djritter1122 02-24-2010 03:44 AM

could but i would rather take a zip tie and make it wrap around the axle and threw/ around the tubes. but more id rather do is just upgrade to a full shalft

xjcrazy 02-24-2010 03:12 PM

Could or would

I am thinking a out trying this but just want some opionions before I do it. Thanks

Thats how mine was done, didnt fall off for the 13XX Miles I drove it like that. I dont know how long it was like that before. I just got done Locking the shift collar over, so im getting rid of the lines now.

gintaras 02-24-2010 03:44 PM

why not just use a hose clamp? a small one like a fuel line clamp

xjcrazy 02-24-2010 04:31 PM

hose clamp?

That sounds way better than my idea...winner hose clamp it is.

nasonguy 02-24-2010 04:50 PM

Haha, yeah, I second the hose clamp.

Super glue would be bad news, just think about when you have to replace those lines, lol, that would not happen.

Or smear a little RGV around the outside of the CAD nipple the put the hose on.

I wouldn't use CA glue - it's not flexible, and it can be antagonistic to most elastomers.

xjcrazy 02-25-2010 12:24 AM

What is rgv?

I have know idea what that is and neither did my buddy google. By the way 5-90 how the he'll do you know so much about cars? Every question I have ever asked about Cherokees the best an most scientifc answer always comes from 5-90 naxja jcf it does not matter. So thank you

Or you could do this, pretty much the same thing.

I think he meant RTV

TC's4drxj 02-25-2010 07:58 AM

if you take the disco peice off and slide the the ring over (on the axle), push the fork over on the vaccum peice and hold it till you put a course threaded screw with some silicone sealant it should do the trick....

"Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want." By that definition, I have plenty.

As well as a reasonably solid background in theoretical and practical physics (most branches,) chemistry (inorganic and petrochemistry,) and mathematics ("if it can't be described mathematically, it ain't important.")

Education enhanced by experience - and a wide array of experience at that! Throw in the fact that I am the product of an educational system wherein some variation of "Why?" was the most common answer on tests, and I'm used to giving detailed explanations anyhow (after all, you could get partial credit for a wrong answer - if you can show that your logic was sound, and you'd just started from a flawed premise.) And, I like to teach.

wow..

What an answer! You are a great teacher 5-90. You are master yoda with a wrench! lol. well after much debate and help from the folks on jcf, i ended uo getting some butterfly hose clamps and clamping them on the hose.It worked great. I couldnt even get the hoses to move. Now i feel real good and confident that when i need my 4x4 it will be there.

Thank you. When you've been doing something for thirty-odd years (even merely "as a hobby,") you tend to learn quite a bit.

Throw in my natural inclination to figure out just how and why things work (it's not enough for me to know that it works and how to fix it, I want to know how and why so I can make it work better!) and you're going to learn one Hell of a lot!

And, I enjoy teaching, so this allows me to disseminate knowledge that I've picked up over the years. Why do you think I'm writing books?
