Default Will GMC Sierra 1500 Springs work in a bastard pack?

A guy at work wrote one of the trucks off and they are just going to scrap it. I was wondering if the springs would work for a bastard pack. Its a 2wd.

I would imagine they would be too long. You didnt mention what year GMC, but they will probably be about 56" long... or longer.. I also dont know how long XJ springs are to compare.

I believe they may be too wide as well, but your best bet is to go out and measure them and see... If they are the correct width, then you may be able to use some of the smaller leaves.

I have heard something about a fullsize truck that has a shackle that will bolt up to the XJ and adds 1.5"s I do not remember which truck though.

I was thinking they would be too wide as well. I haven't looked yet, but I was going to cut them up to make them whatever length I needed and put them in with the pack I have now.

I don't need the extra lift. I need to boost my leaf packs to where they should be (3" lift) they are sagging plus I'm going to be pulling an enclosed trailer.

i think it was the shackles out of any ford truck were said to work so with that said i would imagine any for leaf springs would be the right width

It is the full size GM shackles that will add the lift.

Cherokee springs are 2" 1/2 wide the Chevy springs maybe 3" wide depending if it's a 1 ton or 3/4 ton but they maybe to long. I had a buddy put chevy truck springs in the rear of his Cherokee and it raised it up but he had barley any rear flex. I told him it was a bad idea in the beginning but he didn't listen.

It won't work your better off doing a S-10 springs or just buying new ones.

To answer your original question: i think they would work, but would provide a very harsh ride, as the leafs have a very high spring rate designed for a load in the back of the pickup
