Default Will an electric fan + motor from a pre 97 fit in the housing of 97 above?

So my electric fan went and I could only find one at the junk yard but it came out of a pre 97 Jeep cherokee and it is a little different although it looks exactly the same. It has a slightly different connector but I can cut off the one currently on my jeep and splice it on to the one that came out of the junk yard.

The problem is the housing is cracked so I pulled the fan out of it (3 bolts) but now I'm wondering if it will fit in the housing on my 2000 cherokee?

Has anyone tried swapping out the fans in these two housings ?

I'm wondering if it will even adapt before I rip out the old one.

Thanks

Good luck but all this work for a jy fan just doesnt do it for me I gave you all the info I could its up to you if you want to use it

Answered my own question. I ended up swapping out the jy fan w the one in my jeep. It was a little tricky getting out the fan but with a small wrench I was able to do it. It is exactly like the original. Same size and number of blades. I took it out and put it in my housing.

I also had to snip off the connector and splice in the one off the original fan. It was pretty easy.

The fan was only $18 and it works great! Saved alot of $ and felt accomplished.

I attached pics. Wait I can't the app keeps crashing when I try to upload a pic.

conguats. on your changeover now I know an alturnative to this problem now I would be VERY concerned about the rest of the cooling system as our xjs have the great 0331 cylinder head which is prone to cracking upon over heat @ approx. 235 degrees I guess thats why I was against u using the jy fan but I guess its like all electric comp. it either works or it doesnt Glad u got it fixed
