even with 20 50 on a fresh rebuild, I'd highly doubt the 4.0 would see 80 psi. I have a good non burning non leaking 4.0 ho and with 15 40 i see about 45 - 50 psi. so with 20 50 + lucas id say they could get maybe 65 - 70 psi, but not 80 + its more than likely a bad gauge.

Well I'm not sure how cold it is where u are but that can effect oil pressure. The main thing I would look out for is blowing out your filter, otherwise you shouldn't have a problem.

Change the sensor, and if it doesn't change then its the gauge..You can just take the new sensor back and put your old one on.
Did this just happen out of the blue or after a oil change or?

Theres always a chance that its just sludge built up on the sensor like mine was.
Bought my XJ and PSI was reading max all the time. Pulled out the sensor and it was covered in sludge. Before buying a new one I got a tooth brush and a can of carb cleaner out and went to town, works fine now and didn't have to spend the like $30 on a new one.
