Who's runnin 35's on the stock dana 30?
I'm trying to decide if I should go with 33's or 35's and I'm really torn right now. I already have a Durango with 33's and there have been times when just a little bit taller tire would have made the difference but I don't know if the dana 30 can handle 35's and a locker. Mine is a CAD axle too so it has the smaller 260 U-joints. Basicly like the title says, who's running them and what successes or failures have you had?

Ive got three buddies who are running 35s and have no problems, but no lockers either and are running stock 3.54 gears. You can go up to 35s on a Dana30 and be fine, but once you get any kind of locker and numerically higher gears(4.10s and above) thats when you start breakig stuff. Ive got 33s and doin just fine with lots of wheeling. Even my week Dana 35c turd with factory LSD hasnt given me any problems. ...yet Just picked up a D44 to rebuild though

you won't get 5 minutes into a trail on 35s with a locker on that axle.
leave it open, and you should be fine.

been there, done that. broke a u joint and detroyed my shafts. replaced the shaft then snapped outer stub so i bought alloy shafts. after alloys i ended up bending an axle tube and snapping my carrier causing it to take out my ring gear. not worth it. i still have a dana 30 but its far from stock now. its now trussed, gusseted, cryo'd gears, full case detroit locker and alloys shafts.

Most of the guys from Iron Rock Off Road run dana 30s with different upgrades. They go to trails all over the country with trusses and their almost alloy kits on the 30.

dont worry about alloys. just grind your shafts and upgrade to some full circle spricers. 9 times out of 10 its the joint that fails not the shaft. do this when you install the aussie

I had a TJ with a high pinion 30 from an XJ with 36's and 4.56 gears and a quick lock and never blew it up, and I beat the crap out of that thing!!!!!
