Neither.. If I had to choose between running a flow and running straight pipe. I would go with the pipe. Otherwise, I would say dynomax ultraflo, magnaflow/bullet performance muffler. Or an aeroturbine but its spendy.

I used to have a flowmaster on a different one and it sounded bad ***. If I end up keeping the XJ and do exhaust it will be a flowmaster again. I believe it was a 40.

i have the flowmaster 40 from rusty's, for a little over $100. i've been pleased with the sound, but not he quality of it. it did not hold up like i had hoped, so i think next time i would buy something else. the salt they put down on the roads here is terrible, i'm sure some of you on here can relate to that

I have Flow master 40 Series and I love it, it sounds good, very nice tone. Just got to youtube and search for Cherokee's with flow masters, then you will be able to hear one.

I really like my flowmaster 40, but it produces alot of heat. I took my carpet out and the metal floor will literally melt plastic fairly easy.

I'm not sure if mine is the Magnaflow or flowmaster, (came with it when I bought it) but it's not as loud as I thought it might be, just nice and throaty.

I've got a header, hi-flow cat and the performance muffler.

I have a flowmaster 60, with my cat removed. Mine is an '87 4.0, and pulled off that nice low old-school grumble/gurgle. I like the way it sounds, but that may just be my preference.

right on fellas. I've decided to get the flowmaster 40 from rusty's with the air tube bracket and 6x9 K&N filter. Thanks for all the input. You've all been really helpful.
