Who all has one of these Jeeps....and if you do and you check a few things for me.

Door ajar switches (do all your doors have one?)
rear axle (type and ratio)
rear drum size
Do they have factory Fog Light harness and connections?

Thanks for the info.....need help figuring out if this is the way they come,

I can tell you the police packages rear drum is 10". Other then that dunno. Oh and you could only get 10" drums on the police packages not consumer packages.

Very cool...I will to verify I have a policy setup....

From the service log...it use to have alternating headlights system...but that was remove for problems with the system. And it has the A-pillar spot light mount.....and very stiff ride...I am assuming heavier leafs. And I have the Idle button by the rear widow washer....kinda cool...to use in the mornings when it cold to warm up the jeep quicker.

My son's 87 was a county sheriff's vehicle. It had the factory skid plate kit, it had the optional D44 rear axle (open with 3.55 gears), base vynol interior with rubber matting (no carpet). Inside rear door handle linkages were disconnected. Came with 2 very large A pillar spot lights. lots of holes in the front where push bar was obviously removed and lots of holes in the top where the light bar was removed. I know this is the wrong era of police XJ to help you out but, I figured you might get some useful info. from it.

Not true......

You could get the 10" drums simply by ordering them.... Look for the drums with the cooling fins on them. They are 10" models....

I had a Montana Dept of Forests/Forestry XJ. Had the vinyl interior.. but all the good drivetrain stuff and A/C. It had an aux. junction block off the battery for the radios and etc. It also had a larger tranny cooler.

Oh I know you can order the 10" drums. I am saying from the factory as far as I knew only the police/govt packages had the 10" option. Standard production off the lot was all 9". I could be completely wrong though.

As far as the fog lights, take a look up in the bumper, it might have come with it and they might have tucked it all up, if not, check for it, it's two little plugs, pretty easy to find. The police issue's are nice - but beware, they can have a TON of problems depending on the application. I had a Crown Vic that was used in a highway town, the trans was shot. They run 24/7, the idle on the side of the highway for 4 hours, gun it to 90mph, jam on the brakes, repeat.

I have schematics for the alternating headlights if you need them to remove them, they are illegal in most states and inspection may not like it.

Getting up early to get started on cleaning it up and lookin it over. Going to take out the seats and spare tire and some interior parts and molding to look for the door ajar switch.....

Going to give it a good bath and wash the engine bay...and check it all over......

I will take some pics...while I am at it.

Well here is the update...and pics will follow soon...

Back door behind the driver side is missing the harness...but the connector is there for it to be added....Great!

Can't seem to find any fog lights wires....and I took off the switch panel on the dash and no extra connector......so I will have to get something together....I did see on ebay a 4 switch plate face...and I can buy the factory switch and wire it my self.

I do have the 10" drums.....YES!

Oil leak seems to be coming from the back of the valve cover....

Center console slop is from a broken support above a electronic peice and below the ac vent. Going to have to go and get one of these from Dealer

Pics will follow...

usually when it leaks in the back of the valve cover its because there is a bolt back there and it is hard to get to to get it tight but i used a 1/4" ratchet and 3/8 12 point socket with no extensions and you should be able to tighten it with that
