Where is the water leak coming from?
2 Attachment(s)
I have this leak and I can't seem to figure how to fix it. It is causing major rust inside my jeep.
This leak is coming from the passenger side area. I can take the panel out but I stuck figuring out what to do next.... Any ideas? PS. Ignore the antenna hole. It was leaking prior to the antenna removal. |
I would suspect the big hole where the antenna would be.

Please ignore the antenna hole. It was leaking before I took out the antenna.

Look under the hood on the passenger side of the firewall, you'll see a black hose sticking out the goes to nothing, that is the HVAC case drain. It looks like water is coming in around there, or the drain is plugged with dirt and crap and the build up of condensation is seeping out someplace.
|
I don't think it is the HVAC because it only happens whenever it rains. It thought it might be the condensor but the leaking is directly proportional to the amount of rain outside....sadly...

Not that hole the ant hole that goes into the cab

If you run the defrost of the ac, it would be. There is more water in the air. |
i would suspect the seal around the windsheild. any small holes or cracks there will casue a leak in the area you have one.

Yea...I am going to get the windshield re-sealed and see. I am tempted to remove the fender and start cutting away parts if I can't find this issue.
Thanks! |

Have ya checked the heater core??? Try bypassing it under the hood and see if it stops leaking. If it does ya know it's time to swap it out.

Something maybe easy to try. Sometime when it's dry leave a hose dribbling in the air inlet cowling there and see if it leaks. I still have the Rambler, enough crap got on there to block the drain and it would back up and leak in the cab there. My 90 has a pretty fine screen there, so it's doubtful assuming you have the same screen, but if you have a hose, it's something easy enough to check. Btw MY AC drain clogged and it leaked there. Also my Jag windshield leaks like a siv. (Limey rubber )

Does your AC & drain work? Mine will leave a small puddle on the ground sometimes, as it should.

On another thread about a similar leak information was given about a leak from inside the cowl. There is a seam that is apparently prone to harden up and leak. Mine is leaking there too. I believe.
