where to place o-ring for fuel pressure regulator

where to place o-ring for fuel pressure regulator
90' xj. just scooped up a set of o-rings from the dealer for the injectors part # 83503637 - there was 13 of them all black. Where on the fuel line do i actually place the o-ring? I also replaced the fitting on the fuel line with part # 83502745. The car seems like its misfiring, i did not put an o-ring on the fuel line, would that cause the car to run rough?
