Hello,
I have a closed cooling system (1990 Cherokee) and need to burp the air easily. I read that you can simply remove the "Coolant Temperature Sending Unit". Where is this? I understand this is different than the Coolant Temperature Sensor", yes?

The sensor in the tstat housing is the ECT (Electronic Coolant Temperature sensor) which is what the computer uses for it's engine temp readings and it is quite important. The one they say to remove is, as you stated the gauge SENDER which is on the back of the head, driver's side on a Renix (Not my picture):

Hey guys,
I just burped the coolant system by removing the coolant temp. sending unit. however, it seems to run hotter now and my coolant gauge sets past the 210' temp mark at around the 1-2 tick marks after that! Almost near red.
So....is it possible that I didn't screw the coolant temp. sending unit in all the way? I noticed that when I put it back, I didn't screw it in all the way...could that be the culprit? See pic below (notice teflon tape), Maybe I should take that tape off and try it again so it sets all the way in?
The other possible reason for the hotter temps could be the "Tee" that I left on my heater hose after flushing. Could be a weak link, but I have a hunch it is the sending unit...
